Does Cinnamon Powder Aid in Weight Loss?

Losing Weight With Cinnamon - Check Your Kitchen Cabinets! Recently, the Internet has become ablaze with discussions and threads about cinnamon powder and its alleged ability to assist a person in weight loss. There are some individuals who have sworn by this method, while others have reported not experiencing any significant changes in their weight. The recipe for this cinnamon powder concoction is quite simple to make. It involves combining 1/2 teaspoon of honey, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and boiling the two ingredients in 1 cup of water. Half of the mixture should be consumed a half hour for breakfast, while the other half should be consumed a half hour before dinner.

The new regimen does not require an individual to make any other changes to their diet, and it is believed that this regimen will assist a person in losing 3-5 pounds in one week. The amount of weight a person loses will be dependent upon the individual and the type of cinnamon they use in their concoction. There are three primary types of cinnamon: Ceylon cinnamon,

Indonesian cinnamon, and Cassia cinnamon. It is believed that the ingestion of cinnamon into the human body prevents the body from accumulating fat, because the cinnamon affects how one's blood sugar breaks down the fat ingested and prevents it from being stored as fat.

While it is still being debated whether or not cinnamon is actually an effective weight gain preventative, there are other benefits to the human body by following this regimen. For example, a paste of cinnamon and honey eaten on a slice of bread at breakfast can help reduce the impact of heart disease. Likewise, a concoction of cinnamon and honey, taken on a daily basis, kills germs in the bladder that cause bladder infections. Other benefits of honey and cinnamon include curing toothaches, stimulating hair growth, and reducing the amount of pain one experiences from arthritis.

Before beginning any new regimen for weight loss, an individual should always consult their primary care physician to ensure that the cinnamon and honey mixture will not negatively interact with any other medications the person might be taking. Furthermore, one should bear in mind that cinnamon and honey is not a long-term cure or preventative for weight loss/gain. The trick to truly losing weight permanently is to strike a healthy balance between one's diet and the amount of exercise they receive. However, if the individual's doctor gives the go ahead, then the assistance of honey and cinnamon can be an effective short-term aid.
